I looked over the HBO site

and can't find a start date. Seems like the seasons get shorter and the time between gets longer. Maybe they have it timed so it will start when Carnivale runs out? Sex in the City starts in January for it's last season

The schedule of "Sex and the City" normally doesn't affect shows like "The Sopranos" and "Six Feet Under". I can recall times when new episodes of "Sex and the City" playing while new episodes of "Six Feet Under" were airing.

I would expect the new season of "Six Feet Under" to start sometime in late February or early March. That's the time when the last season started. Another thing one can do to time the debut is the week following when the Sopranos wraps up its season.

Now, I don't know when the new (and likely last) season of the Sopranos is fixing to start. The delays on that, thanks to all those contract delays between HBO and James Gandolfini, may mix up the schedule a bit. HBO also plans to introduce a new western series (I forget the name of it).

At any rate, I've really lost quite a bit of interest in "The Sopranos" over the last two seasons. The writing quality has really sank. Hopefully the series can have a good finish. I do like "Six Feet Under" quite a lot though. I'm looking forward to that far more than I am the new season of "The Sopranos".

It is really weird how HBO has such seemingly short seasons for these shows. They barely amount to a half season for a normal network TV series. An average year of "Six Feet Under" or "The Sopranos" will have under 13 episodes. This past go 'round with "Six Feet Under" seemed like it had less than 10; the season was gone right after it started. The short duration and very long break between would certainly make it more difficult for HBO to keep a loyal audience in place.
