I made the mistake of getting a 5-disk DVD changer and am now driven crazy loading and unloading disks.

I'm thinking of getting one of those mega-changers that hold 300 disks. Anyone had any good/bad experiences with particular brands?

Take a look at kaleidescape DVD server it is not cheap but it's a sweet system. OK, substitute "fucking expensive" for "not cheap".

I recently purchsed a Sony DVP-CX985V which is a 400 disc "mega-changer" that plays DVD, CD, MP3 and Multi-Channel SACD. I have been very pleased with this player - it has a very intuitive cataloging system, a keyboard input on the front to title discs, and (so far) excellent performance. The carousel doesn't move quite as fast as I'd like and there are a couple quirks with with the navigation system, but all and all it is a great player. It runs $400.

I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks to loading up your DVD collection in one of those mega-changers. Would there be more risk for the discs to develop warp problems or "rot"?

Wow, didn't know they had mega changers.
So are they progressive scan units? It wouldn't make sense to have a "library player" but have a crummy picture.
I have slow dial up so is there a site that is small to look at these?
Most important question.......Can they be made to be regionless?
I'm also interested in Bobby's question about potential destructive factors of these "library" units

Would be any more chance for "disk rot" stored inside a changer than there would be keeping them in regular disk-boxes? Or is "airtightness" an issue? (I'm fairly new to the DVD game.)

Good lord you must have tons of time on your hands to watch that many movies that you even needed a 5 disk unit!! Now you want more capacity....? The disks in a 5 changer would last me 2 months! Guess I don't watch much TV.

I'm guessing people with Mega-changers are only watching the "good" parts. I have a thin spot on a section of my "Wild Things" DVD.
