So as I'm sure anyone who cares already knows, Star Trek Enterprise has been canceled effective the end of this season. There's a web site setup to organize a letter writing campaign to the heads of the networks to show disappointment over the cancelation. For anyone who's interested here's the address.

And after I just gave into the undeniable truth that I am a big Star Trek geek.

I'm Netflix'ing all of Deep Space 9, which one of my good friends said was "the Methodone of Star Trek". So I've been able to watch Enterprise and enjoy it immensely.

And I think this will do it for Star Trek for awhile. Unless they concentrate on pumping out more movies.

Paramount has milked the Star Trek cow to the point of killing it. That includes movies as well as television. ST needs a nice long hiatus.

Oh yeah, and the creator of Babylon 5 was asked by paramount to write a treatment for a new series idea recently. No word on if that would ever come to fruition.

If they do make another Star Trek, movie or series, it needs to have nothing to do with the enterprise or the federation. They need to find something completely new to get people interested again.

BTW, I have enjoyed Enterprise and think it is probably the best spin off series yet. I'm not sure if I like T'Pol or 7of9 better though. Hottest trek girl of all is no doubt the first Dax on DS9.

I have to agree with David Stambaugh, it has been milked to the point of death. My analogy would be thinking of "The Fat Lady" gone anorexic. Personally, I think they need to let the generations of ST age a bit, and bring it back in about 15 - 20 years.

Well I certainly agree with David S and Tom. That whole Star Trek thing is milked way, way beyond reason!

Having worked with the ST people at Paramount for the "Experience" in Las Vegas, I can attest to the fact that the writers, producers, and corporate people all think they are (and expect to be) treated like gods. They sure think their shit doesn't stink.

AND ***IF*** you don't treat them as royalty and kiss their feet, as well as other body parts, you will NOT get to "participate" in any of their venues or shows connected to Star Trek.

At least most of the cast, including Shatner are "real" persons!

Unless they decide to do another TNG movie (and based on the box office of the last one, why WOULD they), my guess is the next Star Trek project will be a movie based on the original series with an all-new cast in the original roles. That seems to be all the rage anymore.

Shatner could have a cameo as a Klingon.

Give it about five years...

Anyone ever hear the facts about the real life 7 of 9's break up from her husband? Just before the event was anounced they were on a "tour" of a red light district in France, and happened to make some news while there.

Ironically 7's former husband either was or still is a rather well known politician- unfortunately can't seem to remember from what state. Some politicans just have too many strange hobbies; of which wouldn't be too bad if they weren't making the press all of the time. Almost sounds very similar to doing a Bill Clinton.

I still think it's a real shame. This 4th season has been really great. Oh well, with a production cost as high as it had I'm not terribly surprised the network chose to ditch it. Here's to a good series that came to an end before it's time. [beer]

Well, I don't know of Seven having any ex-hubbies... but Jeri Ryan's ex is from Illinois [Smile]

From what I've heard (and I mean "rumors"... certainly nothing official) the next ST film will not be directly based on any of the 5 series, and will be set after Archer's time, but before Kirk's...

Word is that Paramount is working on a new series to be called "Star Trek: Battle of the Super-Beings." It promises to be the most spectacular of them all.

The Federation becomes aware that super-beings all over the universe (the Q Continuum, the Organians, the Talosians and even a new breed of Borg) are being manipulated by the Romulans into proving their individual supremacy by fighting each other.

The U.S.S. Peacetime, captained by Mr. Samak, the love child of Mr. Spock and Dr. Christine Chapel, is sent on a mission to keep this rivalry from getting out of hand and causing galaxy-wide destruction.

Leonard Nimoy will appear in and direct the premiere episode if, and only if, all of the preceding turns out to be true instead of the bullshit that I now claim it is.
