What are your favorite TV shows on DVD? I'm collecting a few of my old faves, such as:

The Andy Griffith Show
Seinfeld
Green Acres
All in the Family
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Dragnet
Adam-12

and am just starting on The Simpsons, my wife is a fan.

If I could have any old show I wanted on DVD, I would pick "WKRP In Cincinnati" (preferably with the original music).

For me I have:

-The Transformers (the original, not the crappy stuff they came out with later)
-Married with Children (seasons 2, 3, and 4 so far) Great stuff, damn it!

I have also borrowed a few seasons of Seinfeld from Nate, and a couple seasons of The Simpsons from my friend Dave. My dad lent me Band of Brothers starring that Friends guy, but I thought that was really boring and stopped watching after just a disc or two.

I have two DVD burners (one in my old desktop machine and a dual layer model in my notebook) -and I've yet to burn a TV program to DVD.

I keep telling myself I'll start taping and burning shows when I get that crucial new piece of hardware. In a couple months I'm going to get a Firewire 800 PC card for my notebook and a 300GB or 500GB external Firewire 800 hard disc. Maybe then I'll start backing up some of my DVD movies and taping shows off TV. But chances are I won't get around to doing it. Perhaps that makes me an asshole. I don't know.

Columbo

My wife got me the first three seasons on DVD for Christmas. The Complete Fourth Season is coming out in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!

Since each of those collections contains 666 x 10^666 hours of video, I'd probably never make it through one of them.

Have you checked the discount bin at Wal-Mart? Not even kidding, that's where you find the first few seasons at the Wal-Mart here in town. I personally don't like Friends, but have seen the DVDs in the big $5 bin when looking through it to see what they had.

I also have the Johnny Carson collection. It's great but needs more volumes!

I bought the Petticoat Junction first season but it hasn't aged as well as Green Acres.

I've placed a moratorium on my DVD purchases ... but before that happened:

random seasons/episodes of
... since I stopped buying, I've been renting via Netfilx, I've been getting about as many TV/DVDs from them as I've been getting movie/DVDs.

That episode is called "Double Exposure" and is in the Season 3 box. (The projectors are DP-70's and the theatre is the old Preview House on Sunset Blvd.)

Jeremy, what about DEEP SPACE NINE? TNG has some good episodes here and there, but I just finished watching VOYAGER a couple of weeks ago, and that show is crap. Except for seasons 4 and 5, which are inexplicably good. But DEEP SPACE NINE is quite possibly the best TV show ever. How come that show always gets neglected? Where's the love?

Over the past couple of years I've been watching DS9 (I just finished watching disc 1 of season 7), but via rental, not by purchasing. It's not lack of love, just lack of $$$ at this point.

I agree that it is quite likely the best developed and well-made series in the Star Trek canon ... regardless, TNG is still my favorite. [thumbsup]

Magnum PI here... [thumbsup] . I started collecting my favorite show, Married with Children, but gave up after season 4 which had a few syndicated episodes on the disc. I would probably have collected Macgyver as well, but they're such poor transfers. Eventually I'll pick up Starsky and Hutch if I find them in the bargain bin, but like several others, I dont really buy DVDs anymore like I used to, and stick to Netflix.

Secret Agent is the US title of Danger Man. I picked up the megaset from Half Price Books. I haven't watched them all yet, so I don't know if there's any lead in to The Prisoner.

I have Perrin on VHS (BBC NTSC). A quick search shows that Region 2 PAL DVD's were released in 2003. Not available in Region 1.

Sorry, I guess I shouldn't have included Perrin. It's just such a memorable show.

I probably would have gone for the three CSI shows if it weren't for HD. Seems silly to buy it now when it's on TV all the time anyway and you KNOW all the shows will be in a HD format in a couple of years. Actually, my DVD buying in general has been cut to a minimum until probably after HD-DVD and/or Blu-Ray get a foothold since any old show not shot on video could potentially be improved in a HD release.

Darryl, that one's from season 7, called, "Make Me a Perfect Murder". It might be a while before that comes out, because they're just up to season 4. However, the season 3 set includes "Double Exposure", the episode about the subliminal cuts. It has long scenes inside two different booths. AA-2's with Ashcrafts, and XLs with Peerless Magnarcs!

Soon, I plan on adding Law & Order on DVD, especially the Law & Order: SVU (Special Victims Unit). There are a whole lot of interesting episodes. I especially like Ice-T who plays in the SVU episodes.

I read somewhere that Patrick MacGoohan's character in "The Prisoner" is never really named (just numbered) because the producers didn't have the copyright to his "Dangerman" character. But they did everything they could to suggest the series is a continuation of the earlier one.

My favorite TV DVD is "The Best of Ernie Kovacs." I bought my husband "The Avengers: The Complete Emma Peel Set."

I'd like to get more MST3K, and surprisingly do not have any seasons of "Xena."
