AKA Watch Out We're Mad

Hi all

I have been systematically working my way through all the Terence Hill & Bud Spencer Films. I would have to say, having now watched 8 or so films that this is my favourite to date.

The plot is simple enough. Two friends (brothers - I am not sure) have their prized rally car burned to a crisp by some criminals so they decide to get even with the criminals. Yes - that's just about all the plot there is but the film does not suffer for it as it is hilarious scene after hilarious scene.

The most amazing thing about this film (and most Italian films I have seen for that matter) is the cinematography. I understand that it was filmed in Madrid, Spain and the shots of Madrid are just amazing. Most Italian films I have watched have the highest grade quality film I have seen. The colors are sharp and clear even after 30 years. The transfer to dvd was absolutely perfect and the film looked like it was filmed yesterday (disregarding the 70s fashions etc). I was completely entranced by the huge fairground in Madrid. I wonder if it still exists?

Another thing about this film is that it is the most 'Italian' of the Hill/Spencer films I have seen and the small garage setting seems straight out of Italy.

There are some classic moments in this film - the gangster trying to shoot Hill & Spencer during choir practice, the mock spaghetti western shootout scene on bikes and the balloons scene featuring a ford escort rampaging through what is I presume a restaurant. It is plain to see that the Blue Brothers were a shameless ripoff of Hill & Spencer (eg see the restaurant scene in Trinity is still my name).

I give this film 10 out of 10. It is amazing and colorful to watch, great entertainment and easily one of the best of the Hill/Spencer films. Get a big pan of beans, a spoon, put the dvd in the dvd player and enjoy.
