So I recently picked up a second hand DVDO iScanHD scaler for scaling my LaserDiscs. In playing around with the unit, I found that the RGB analog out had a better picture than the DVI-D output. I had each set to output 1080p/60, and for some reason the RGB is producing less noise, and seems to have slightly better resolution too.

I would have thought the DVI-D connection would be better since the scaling and de-interlacing is being done digitally and then output digitally.

The scaler is outputting RGB color space, and I believe the DVI-D is outputting component color space. Would this account for the difference in quality?

I've got the scaler connected to a 1080p LG LCD television.
