Does DVI (or specifically the dual-link variety) support Deep Color? I've got a PC with a video card that's got a dual-link DVI port and do you guys know if this would likely support the so-called "deep color" depths? Though obviously, I don't have to hook up my PC to a fancy new HDTV but it would be nice to do and not have to also get a newer video card to support the stuff.

I don't think so, unles single link also supports it. One of the advantages claimed for the new Dispayport interface is the ability to support various deeper colour modes.

The second link on dual link DVI is used to support higher resolutions on large, usually 30", computer monitors.

If you're connecting to a HDMI monitor you won't be able to use dual link anyway, as the standard 'A' connector does not support it. The HDMI standard does define a similar but wider 'B' connector which has extra contacts to support dual link, but to the best of my knowledge it's never been implemented; the nearest you're likely to come to seeing one is a dimensioned drawing in the standard. The mini 'C' and micro 'D' connectors do not support dual link either. Since single link DVI is adequate for HDTV, the only place where you're likely to see dual link is very large, very high resolution computer monitors, and since they don't normally use HDMI, it's doubtful if the 'B' connector will ever be seen.
