I was stunned to see TRUEHD 7.1 for Transformers 3. No DTS.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That should eventually come. I was just shocked that there was TrueHD on this disc.

The 'double dip' edition is rumoured to be released in December with the 3D version included as well as the obligatory supplement material - I'll wait for that version.

And I selfishly prefer Dolby TrueHD to DTS-HD Master Audio because my Blu-Ray player won't decode full DTS and send it out as PCM, so I have to set the player to bitstream when playing discs with DTS. When set to Bitstream, you lose the menu sounds and any overlayed stuff like picture-in-picture commentary. If you play a DTS track converted to PCM, it only decodes the 'core' part and you lose the extra surround channels, but my player can decode the full Dolby tracks with all channels.

Another annoying thing about DTS is they're now using it on older 2-channel movies, and my receiver won't decode Pro-Logic on those unless the disc is flagged. I bought "Gross Anatomy" just because it was 5 bucks, and that has a 2-channel DTS Master Audio track which isn't flagged so I have to either play it in full resolution with just front left and right, or play it in PCM where I can Pro-Logic decode it but lose the extra resolution. (It's not a great-sounding movie anyway, but it's the principle of the thing.) If my player dies I'll make sure my next one has internal full DTS decoding, but not going to replace it just for that.

Sounds like you have a pretty crappy Blu-ray player, Jesse. But seriously, no menu sounds is a BAD thing? I have my player set to bitstream and there are no sounds that it misses out on anywhere. Also, you might want to upgrade your receiver as well, but do research before purchasing this time.

even the 3D bluray players are not expensive as one would expect them to be.
