Check out the dvd that was released this week. The studios really do care about pirated/ripped copies?

Actually, I thought it was pretty clever, the whole "make a legit DVD look like an illegal rip" thing. It plays off against the movie's Lizabeth Salander computer hacker character nicely.

I wonder how many people got the disc and actually fell for it.

Probably see more of this sort of packaging in the future - just to be different, yet relating to the content.

Easy way to tell burnt from real is the data side: colored against silver.

The studios are doing everything they can to justify piracy. They're thinking of raising 2D ticket prices and lowering 3D ones, for example. I thought there might have been a thread around here but I guess nobody here has heard that rumor.

Like David Fincher's other movie THE SOCIAL
NETWORK , THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO came in a similar packaging on Blue Ray. LIke the other movie, I like the packaging very much but I cannot say the same for the DVD only version which I found very flimsy. I thought the fake 'DVD R' label was very clever

The Blu-Ray discs were normal. The packaging for both was the same type. Only the DVD disc was produced to look like a bootleg.
