Just made the move to HDTV-3d (still using a 27" tube model!) and would like some Blu-Ray suggestions. I'm going to get HUGO for the 3D and Baraka just because, but I need one or two other good looking/sounding titles. It should be something of general interest, not in the sci-fi or adventure line. It should be something the 91-year old mother-in-law would like.

Any and all suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

Although I do not have a 3-D HDTV yet but I eventually will get one. As many of you know, I have been having problems with my Panasonic BD player so I recently got another Pioneer. This time it is a 3-D player in anticipation of the day I get a 3-D display. I was very plesantly surprised when I discovered the machine came with an offer for the BD of AVATAR in 3-D if I sent the card with my sales receipt and the proof of purchase tab from the shipping container. I did that and my disc should be on it's way to me by now.

Although I do not have 3-D yet, I already have a couple of discs in that format including the new TRON movie as well as Hugo plus a few others. Robert Harris said the TRON movie is one of the best BD.I hear JOURNEY TO ThE CENTRE EARTH is not bad too

There are some excellent transfers of the classics which you might find enjoyable.

Most notably is Casablanca. Incredible picture quality and the story isn't half-bad either! [Smile]

Does not have to be 3-D. She loves classic Hitchcock and film noir. Her two favorite movies are Wuthering Heights and Flamingo Road. Doesn't like much after the 1950's, actually.

The new TV is 55" HDTV-3D, the OLD TV is a 27" Sharp. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

BEN-HUR, THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, CHITY,CHITY, BANG, BANG and MEET ME IN SAINT LOUIS are great Blu Rays to get and in two weeks, SINGING IN THE RAIN will be released.

I just got BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY today based on Robert Harris's very favorable review at the Home THeatre Forum and will watch it tonight.

..even AVATAR was great in BR.. just don't expect to see 2:39.1 on the screen. Formatted in 1.77:1 for full HD screen viewing.
