I first saw SITR in 1952 when I was thirteen year old at my local theatre, the Waipahu when it was first released and I immediately fell in love with the film and never forgot it. When the movie became available on home video I bought it on every format it was released starting with VHS and followed by Laserdisc , DVD and now Blu-Ray. Every time it was released in a newer format, the picture and sound quality kept getting better and better.I thought the two disc special on DVD a few years ago was perfect but the difference in picture quality between the new BD and the previous DVD is like night and day. I grew up watching movies that was photographedbin in three strip Technicolor and never forgot how gorgeous the color in that format was and the new BD of SITR reproduced the original dye transfer color perfectly.
SITR was released in two format in a single disc set and a three disc collectors edition.. The collector edition comes in
a box and has a very nice hard cover book and other trivial items, the movie on seperate Blu-Ray and DVD and another DVD that has all the extra stuff that was on the previous two disc special edition DVD. Because I had no need for the book and the other stuff in the box, I bought the single disc because I already have the other special features on my DVD set of the movie
