Does any one use or have used a Zeiss Ikon 16b Favorit 16mm projector or a Prevost with a water cooled gate ? I am setting one up in my garden shed cinema and would value any input on the best way to set up the cooling system on this projector ,I am going to use a 1600watt xenon lamp

Hello Keith,

We have one of these projectors in the Temple Theatre in Saginaw, Michigan USA. You can see it in the warehouse under pictures and Single Screen "Temple Theatre".

It is essential that you use a heat filter in the lamp house. Our unit has a cooling system consisting of a reservoir with a submerged pump and a radiator with a fan.

I can supply more detailed pictures if necessary.

Thanks Ken sound like it's going to get pretty hot , I was going to use a micro pump I just brought off ebay and a bucket of water

Just out of curiosity, what is the most powerful lamp (or what is the biggest screen image to be illuminated) anyone has encountered for 16mm?

Steve,

The lamp in the Temple 16mm is a 2400 watt Xenon in the Zeiss Xenosol stack cooled and internal fan cooling lamp house. This uses a vertical arc bulb with 2 reflectors.

The sheet is 24 x 46 ft and we do not fill it.

I have seen the 16B with a 2.5kw xenosol lamphouse on the back and a Hortson with a futura on it

Now you're talkin' Gordon. I wonder how small they could make the spot with the Futura or if the bulk of the light was wasted with a 35mm-sized spot.

James Bond and I installed an Eastman 25 with Kinoton lamphouse and 2kw lamp at the Harold B. Lee library at BYU a few years back. We could get ~23 footberts out of the thing. With an ISCO lens and Blue Star anamorphic a clean 16mm scope print looked like 35mm was being projected. I suspect that image above is also a James Bond installation. The Kinoton lamphouse is a dead giveaway.
