This subject has been covered a lot on 1570.com

Take a look here for a few hints and ideas

I don't know about you but since he is new I think he should learn how to do things the proper way first and get good at that. Then maybe learn the shortcuts. Otherwise, he may just mess things up for himself and potentially others.

Welcome to the IMAX family, and "May the force be with you"

I never ran IMAX but I did run 3D 1570 (rolling loop, CDC). So I might be able to help. What type of sound equipment do you have? What type of reel unit(s) do you have (MK I, MK II, Q-turn)?

Isn't that pretty much the same thing?

Adding or subtracting program material in 1570 is more of a sound/automation/film transport issue than a projector issue

Darryl and Gordon your both right. So does anyone know what type of reel unit(s) he is working with?

Hey Gordon, out of curiosity, when you talk about automation on 1570 trailers, does IMAX have queues for house lights and other stuff like you would find in a 35mm house?

Since he's talking about inserting trailers without using the make-up table (MUT), I assume he's using the Quick Turn Reel Unit (QTRU).

I prefer to do my trailer work on the Mark-II Reel Unit (MkII) and then transfer to the QTRU. (But I'm running features less than one hour. Haven't run DMR yet.)
