WorldCon is an extremely large annual Science Fiction convention this year (2006) being held actually in Orange County (though officially billed as LA area) in 8/23 - 8/27.
The page discussing films to be shown WorldCon 2006 films is still in it's infancy, as they are still negotiating for titles, but the page does state that they have both 35 and 70 equipment available. (presumably in the Anaheim Convention Center, but that's just my guess) Anyway, it goes on to say that 70mm will be subject to whether or not they are able to access enough titles. (probably titles appropriate to the convention theme...?)
Anyway, I thought folks might want to know that this is a possibility in the offing.
Also, I corresponded with the American Cinematheque and one of their programming people said that they were in the midst of planning out a 70mm festival later this year.
To quote the email:

Yes, we are planning a 70 mm weekend either in May or June with a restored print of CLEOPATRA, SOUTH PACIFIC, etc...
I'm still figuring out the date. CLEOPATRA will be show before at the Academy.

I'm terribly sorry. I've re-posted in the Film Handler's Forum. Moderator, would you please delete this thread? Thank you.
