I understand the 15/70 print and the IMAX digital version do not contain the aspect ratio shifts? Can someone confirm this? Didn't they shoot some scenes in IMAX 65MM?

I saw it in IMAX Laser on a 1.43 aspect ratio screen. The movie is all in 2.39. Constant aspect ratio. I have noticed though that some scenes looked sharper.

I think they had to do so many re-shoots, they lost the ability to create full IMAX scenes, so they didn't bother. That's just a guess, but it seems to fit their explanation of not feeling it was worth changing aspect ratios for those scenes.

One of the only films that used switching aspect ratios to good effect IMO was Tron: Legacy.

IMHO, shifting AR was spectacularly effective in IMAX presentations of Interstellar.

Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 had alternating aspect ratios to great effect, and a couple of instances of 3D frame breaking.
