With the roll out of Beowulf i'm just curious if anyone knows how many sites in the UK are enabled for 3D? Anyone have any ideas?

There are 30 Cineworld sites that have been upgraded specifically for Beowulf. I think there were about 10-12 Real D sites operational before then. Don't know if Odeon / Vue have added any.

Of course the best way to see Beowulf 3D is in IMAX at Bradford, Manchester,Glasgow and London BFI:D

All I know is that it is going to be confusing for the general public. For example I work at a site where we are just running 35mm prints, I'm waiting for us to get complaints from customers about the film not being in 3-D.

A site down the road from us is running one print and one Christie DLP (which I assume is 2-D).

Odeon Manchester has both IMAX and Real-D, 'Beowulf' in the IMAX and 'Nightmare Before Christmas' playing in the Real-D.

I'm surprised that they only have the IMAX screen running 'Beowulf', I would of guessed they might have a 35mm print running as well to serve all the business they are going to have for that film..

The Odeon's playing Beerwolf in 3D are Braehead, Wimbledon, Hatfield, Southampton, Norwich, Blackpool, Leicester, Guildford, Tunbridge Wells. Also Showcase Stockton on Tees and Walsall.

The Old Market Hall, Shrewsbury has been Dolby 3D equipped since the tail end of summer 2008.

The UK's Odeon chain is installing 3D projectors in many of its cinemas. These new projectors will deliver 3D images at a resolution of 2K (2,048x1,080 pixels).

To put that in context, that's roughly twice the resolution of a movie on a Blu-ray disc, but only half the resolution of what can be achieved by many modern digital cinemas, which project at 4K (4,096x2,160 pixels).

Currently, it's mostly animated features that are produced in 3D, and so it may come as no surprise that two of the movies you can expect to start watching in 3D are Disney's new Bolt picture and the similarly uninspiring DreamWorks production Monsters vs Aliens.

The rollout began in January of this year and will be completed by March, when 30 Odeon cinemas will be 3D-ready. Odeon cinemas to get 3D include those in Derby, Bath, Belfast, Brighton, Cardiff, Manchester, Swansea, Preston and Huddersfield.

Agree with your comments on this one. Cineworld are doing a rather large scale out (70+ screens from now until April. All will be 3-D capable!

Cineworld are now on target to finish it's digital install within the next week or so. They've also found time to give a training up-date to those staff involved. Pretty impressive as the roll out was only publicised a couple of months ago!

Eye cinema at Galway in Ireland, Eclipse at Downpatrick, Northern Ireland and Zeffirllis By The Park in Ambleside, UK are among the most recent converts.
