There will be a demo of E-Cinema at the AMC Empire Theater (234 W. 42nd St.) on Wed. Mar. 14 2001 at 5:45PM. Guests and non-members are welcome, but you need either the orginal notice that was mailed out, or a copy to get in. No description was given of what kind of equipment or subject will be shown.

AFAIK, the AMC Empire 25 Theatre has a similar "package" of Digital Cinema Equipment as most of the other 31 DLP Cinema demonstration sites. Here is an excerpt from a Technicolor press release:

"NEW YORK, NY (May 18, 2000) – Technicolor and Texas Instruments (TI) today unveiled the latest major expansion of digital cinema technology and the companies’ joint role in bringing the new motion picture format to the fore during a press conference and tour at the AMC Empire 25 in New York City, the world’s only theatre to feature two all-digital screens.

As part of the event, Technicolor and TI provided a showcase of the technology, infrastructure, projection systems, installation and digital distribution medium involved with digital cinema. This included a demonstration of TI’s DLP Cinema™ prototype projector and Technicolor Digital Cinema’s production/distribution solution highlighted by a side-by-side, split-screen comparison between 35mm and all-digital cinema. Beginning today, AMC Empire 25 is using this combined hardware/software solution for a special engagement digital cinema showing of the digitally animated feature film, Dinosaur...

Along with creating the digital distribution medium – in the form of DVD-ROM – Technicolor is providing the expertise to deliver, install, upload and then test each digital cinema installation.
