I just saw a press release on the release of the new "Just for D-Cinema" CP-750. Does anybody have any info related to performance specs (i.e. will it actually handle the hypothetical 24 bit/94 kHz PCM audio)?

Also, does anybody have any idea what the list price (and expected street price) will be? How will it compare price wise to the JSD-80 which is very reasonable for D-Cinema?

It looks like a DMA8 Plus w/B-chain facilities and a couple of extra analog inputs. No doubt, it will integrate with the Dolby Show Player a bit so one need not actually touch the CP750 if they set their shows up well.

It certainly has an interesting display and I can only hope that it actually is useful and can display the channel levels with some actual meaning.

I don't know that they set an exact 750 list price yet.

QSC has announced a full on B-chain processor with monitor and crossovers.

USL will no doubt introduce a B-chain processor as well.

I'm sure if Norm of Smart was still active, he'd be out with something as well.

It would be kind of pathetic if it couldn't handle 24/96 material without downconversion especially with the price it will command, so I'm quite sure it will.

Would this basically be a Basis and DCM all rolled into one? Would you be able to use this processor in a passive setup? (You can't use a DCM in a passive house; it must be bi- or triamplified.)

From what I understand, the JSD80 is very well suited for digital. (I don't have any in digital houses; I have one XD10P in a film house.) I imagine it would't be difficult to remove the unnecessary film functions. Would anything need to be added?

Clint told me at ShowEast that USL was indeed going to offer a film-less version of the JSD-80.

I'm pretty sure I saw a QSC announcement about their DCinema processor. I would think that it would be more of a DCM10/30 with full B-chain facilities and some more inputs rather than a Basis system...which is often a 2-part Cobranet system and really already has B-chain facilities.

I'll bet if you ask anyone in the QSC booth at ShoWest they will probably tell you what they are cooking.

The DCM-10 and the new DCP-300 can be set-up to handle a passive screen system.
