Does Digital "IMAX" utilize standard DCI servers and content packages or are they using proprietary servers. Are the files used for "IMAX" any less compressed than standard D-Cinema releases? Are they mastered any differently?

It won't, they actually consider digital IMAX to be a "Large Format", funnily enough.

from my understanding, Digital IMAX can be done by any duel stream capable DCI player. DTS/QUBE for example. Remember its only duel 2K. IMAX digial is really nothing more then a DCI system on a over sized screen compared to standard cinemas.

IMAX also support the unlicensed duel projector 3D (Polarizing for colour filter). Ie no RealD 50cents per ticket costs.

They use a slightly modified DCP, same as DCI. QubeMaster makes them I hear.

This is staff I heard in passing at Showest, so don't take my word for it.

While I agree 100%, I saw a post (not thread) by Brad stating to put IMAX Digital topics in the Large Format forum. However it appears a thread from a week or two ago has gone missing (something about IMAX and Sony 4Ks), maybe it was in there?

According to an aquaintance that was at Imax for 20+ years there is alot of digital processing going on in this system. Consider that they are overlapping the two images so as to effectively fill in the DLP grid. Normally this would cause the image to go into a blur...
