Anyone notice that Kodak's Digital Cinema section of the Kodak site have disappeared..
For example http://motion.kodak.com/US/en/motion/Hub/Dc/contact.htm
was the contact page. Gone.
Still in Google cache here.

Couldn't find any reference to digital poking around their site. Does look like they have just forgot that they were ever in the digital business. Did find this article however, very interesting read.

Frankly, I have no idea.
I took delivery of a new Screen Management Server a few weeks ago, and another is due on Monday. I've had a couple problems with the first one, and Kodak have been responsive as usual.

Was told last week that Kodak is dropping D-Cinema and will not sell any more systems, but will support those already in action.
Talk about a missed opportunity and waste of a brand name.

Haven't been able to get a hold of them in a week or so. Hope they didn't lay off the division.

I think you will find that the DCinema server manufacturer business will be shriking as the Media Block thing comes into play.

Just what sort of market does Kodak have in the DCinema business? About the most versatile company I've see is USL...they are making a media block, were ahead of the curve on their JSD-80, have THE light meter, have the best bang for the buck Color Meter, now have a Convergence camera, make an AES audio tester, Booth Monitors...etc...they have definitely rolled with the punches and allowed their relatively small size to be more nimble than the big boys.

They are mostly in Canada, with some scattered across the US.

If the rumblings Ive been hearing today are true, they are not the only player rethinking their position.

Officially, they're "repositioning their business model".

As a customer, I've been assured they'll support existing machines "well beyond contractual and moral obligations" and provide hardware and software upgrades needed to fullfill DCI and FIPS specs. We'll see.

If you think about it the Regal and AMC announcement of their intention to use Sony 4K means that they will be using the Sony server so Kodak has no hope of gaining any significant market share with the "big boys". I don't know if Cinedigm phase 2 included any Kodak, if not that could have been a contributing factor.
