We run Panasonic PT DW 5000 series projectors for our pre-show. The lamp assemblies, that include the mounting cradle, are expensive.

Can the actual reflector lamp itself be purchased without the cradle?

It is made by Ushio and is marked MAO222. It has a crimped lead and a lug and nut mounted lead both leading to a single dual plug.

These seem to be a popular projector so does anyone have suggestions for a lower cost lamp replacement?

After looking at all three websites. it seems that their idea of "lower cost" is a savings of only $40-60 per lamp on average. Plus the turnaround time on some are ridiculous. (3-4 weeks?!?) I would imagine it would be even worse trying to get something to Australia.

You're better off buying NEW, fresh lamps AND reflectors (a key item, who's to say the coating on an old reflector is any good or optimum?) rather than horse around with relamped.

Shop around for the best deals on new lamps, and don't be afraid to try sites like Amazon for best pricing.

As with the lamps for your film projectors, it is simply a cost of doing business. If you really need to save money, look at things like staff expenses and waste on food and lobby supplies/decor.

Actually you would probably be better off with new projectors! I have several Customers that went the cheaper lamp route in the Panasonics. None of these customers had good experiences with the cheaper alternatives and the life became even more varying than it was with the factory lamp. All of these customers have since switched over to either Epson or Sanyo LCD projectors all of which seem to have long lamp life and cheaper factory made lamps. I think that definately says some thing about the Pannys
