I have access to a very expensive Sony Projector (SRX-R110) which, in some sort of bizarre joke, is not HDCP compliant

I am now trying to figure out a way to use a non-hdcp signal blu-ray player, we have an Oppo BDP-80 and I'm wondering if there is a way to hack the firmware like the Oppo DV-970HD in order to strip the HDCP from the source.

I know there are HDMI strippers available, however this seems like an incomplete solution to the problem. Also, though Sony was originally developing an HDCP compliant input card, I believe that this has stopped in lieu of development of their newer projection systems. One solution could be to play blu-rays off of a pc, however I'm not sure if we have the budget at this time for that.

I just wanted to see if anyone here had a unique solution to this problem.

You are not likely to get a response to your quest since nobody here would endorse getting around HDCP...since that would be illegal...now our opinions of HDCP and the alleged loss of revenue due to copying probably differ greatly from the reason put forth for HDCP.

NONE of the "R" series A/V projectors are HDCP compliant. One of the features of the "T" series A/V projectors is HDCP compliance. HDCP compliance goes beyond the input module...it is deeper in the projector than that. As such, you will not likely see Sony revamp circuit boards for an obsolete product.

There are devices, like HDFury2 that will take an HDMI signal and output either RGB or YUV analog...which, to the best of my knowledge, are legally sold to allow legacy products to display HD content.
