So, I'm installing a new DP2K-20C (Barco Series 2) projector and all of the Macros have this new line item...it has a light bulb icon but has just the initials of LCF...I couldn't figure out what it was and it would get you a warning on each macro since it couldn't be executed. The factory macro for it called for the "FLAT" file on some and "Scope" file on others.

So when I was calibrating the CLO (Constant Light Output), if for no other reason it has the projector read out in foot-Lamberts it prompts me to save it to a file (never used to do that)...and then it hits me...this is the file that the Macro is wanting to see.

So now, you can calibrate the CLO separately for Scope, Flat, 3D...whatever

This way, no matter which format, lens setting...etc you have the projector will read out (reasonably accurately) in Foot-Lamberts. It also means you can set your CLO to 14.00 fL in your 2D files and 5.5 (or whatever you prefer for 3D) in your 3D files and it will keep the light at that level...without you having to do the math (well...since I calibrated the CLO file on 2D flat, but since I zoom out for scope it needs to be 23fL to really be 14fL...etc)...Now create a file for each unique situation (lens zoom/3D) and it reads out right and maintains the light right.

The series one Barco DP2000 allowed different lamp current settings for 2D and 3D macros but I don't remember where it was done.

In my case it was max current for one and minimum safe current for the other. It worked out to 5.5 for Dolby 3D and something like 22 FL for 2D.

Yes...all of the series 1 projectors allowed for different lamp settings for each macro/channel/preset...however Barco is the first now, with the series 2 (and possibly retro back to series one on the next firmware update) to actually calibrate the lamp reading by macro so 14, is 14, is 14...regardless of how much you zoom or what you put in the light path (after the sensor).

Its not a huge thing but definitely a clever little thing.
