The slide into digital cinema has begun... we have been using proprietary software on one server to run advertising on a Sanyo PLV-70; we now have another digital (Panasonic 5000) projector to run both ads and the odd digital show.
Have tried Panamedia media player and have been having issues with it. The Question is what alternatives are there to run our playlists and projection interface than 6 year old software...???

Welcome to the world of E cinema. Nothing like D cinema though. I've worked with both Panamedia and Atlabs Ec2 and all I can say is they both work and they both annoy you in totally different ways at first then you simply get use to either of them....
There is one plus with the panamedia, being able to download to a central server which then sends the files to the individual screen servers is cool compared to wandering around the building and loading them up individually.
The panamedia can however be limited by the computer technology and the accessories its used on. Using it with a mouse or with a touch screen are totally different experiences.
Where as the Ec2 tends to be a more standard product all made in the same workshop with no pc use, just a dedicated media server product with a touch screen as standard.

Didn't bother with a touchscreen for the Panamedia players in my cinemas.
Everything is scheduled and queued from my office "server"
Press play downstairs and forget it.
The best thing to do is to process all trailers to a common size. I use (720)using Procoder or Streamclip.
A hassle free and very efficient preshow system.
