From Time to Time I cover as a Projectionist at a local 2 screen Art Rep Cinema that now has 2K Digital in both Screens with Doremi Servers.

The Programming can have up to 10 titles a week and as I found tonight 3 titles were going and replaced with 4 new Titles in one screen, all of which has to be scripted with Adverts and Trailers.

It is not always possible to Ingest new DCM Titles before the Cinema opens and in my case only gets an hour before the first Screening, so leaving little choice but try to Ingest while playing another title that is not ideal and takes for ever!

Sometimes if the DCM arrives in time it is Ingested overnight, however we do still get X-Overs leaving little time to Ingest and check it's screening.

Tonight, I was not sure if I could build new Scripts with Ads/Trailers while the Server was playing a Title (I doubt it would), Ideally a TMS would be ideal, but at this venue it is not installed.

Today I made up a 7 reel 35mm Feature at the same Venue for next week, Made-up on Spools and then plated on to a Platter in just over an hour - Far quicker than Ingesting those DCM's and waiting for KDM's, so 35mm [thumbsup] is so a lot quicker and easier to prepare and on a Thursday night would have All Advert/Trailers/Features changed ready for Friday.

Do other Rep Cinemas have the same issues with little time to Ingest DCM's and multiple Advert/Trailer Programmes?

Kind of blows the myth that digi is quicker than 35mm. [Roll Eyes]

Depending on the player...you "could" play the feature right off the hard drive whilst it is in the CRU bay. As such, you build up your play list, stick in the drive, add the feature to the play list and then have it just play the feature from the CRU.

I'm not saying I like it...but in terms of speed...it is pretty instant for getting the show on the screen.

What sever do you have?

You can make make up other playlists while a current show is running no problem with a Doremi. (and you could do it was a Qube, althought you can't injest while running with a Qube.)
