Make sure your computer TCP/IP settings match the projector's - use "manual" setting and enter the same subnet mask and an IP address similar to the projector - first three numbers the same and a last number different from the projector's. Unplug the ethernet cable from server to projector and plug a in cable from your computer to the projector. Open a web browser and enter the projector's IP address in the address bar. Should work.

It's almost 4 years since the last post here, but I can't seem to remember, or find the info, even though I used it almost every day, some years ago:
What is the password for "user", in a series one Christie?
I do not want to log-in as service, I just want to remotely log-in to the web interface, to do whatever an operator does, without the headache of using the panel of a ZX, for instance.

Hello everybody.
I have just bought a CHRISTIE CP2000 and a CP2000-SB projectors but one is missing the Touch Panel Controller. I would like to control the CP2000 by PC on LAN cable, can somebody tell me the password for the Web User interface?

As far as I know the S1 TPC is not optional: the projector can't be used without it - you can't power it up from standby without a TPC. Plus: most S1 CP2000 series models don't have any web interface - only the M and ZX have this.

It is possible to use a VNC connection to the TPC of a series 1 projector. Depending on the TPC software you may have to install the VNC app if it has not been done. You will also need to start the VNC app every time the TPC is booted. It does not start automatically. From a terminal program I think it is "vnc 1" you have to use the quotes. Make sure you are using port 5000 or 5800 in your terminal program. I forget which it is right now.
Edit: It is (VNC 1) Parentheses not quotes. and it is port 5000.

Not sure that is true, no proj to try it on. The S1 tpc is very simple, and anyway he doesn't have the tpc.
The S2 tpc is a wee pc running Windows XP "embedded"... you can connect to them with VNC. It has a Java app that would connect just by browsing to the ip address but security stuff in modern Windows won't allow it to work, there is a tedious workaround but VNC is much less hassle.
Without the TPC a Christie S1 is not usable unless there is a trick I don't know... and I don't know them all by any means.

It can be done and was taught how to in a Christie class and they gave us the app to install if needed. I have done it on a CP2000-H and XB. Note the H predates the S and SB. I know that TPC software 2.9 has the VNC app built in. You just have to start it.

I do get the impression that Stephan and Dave are not in sync here, and question different statements of Azabu.
Stephan, if I may add to your post, the terminal program is the “NetTerminal” by Christie.
You’ll have to connect to the projector (not projector head) by pressing the lightning bolt icon or selecting connect by the “Connection” menu. You then can enable the VNC service by entering
(VNC 1)
as you mentioned.
The truth is, in lack of the program (PM), you can sent the command (if possible) by adding the text to a doremi DCP2000 macro to be sent to the projector, in a similar manner that you would add any other command, but by using text.
A number of commands are documented in the manuals, like queuing for douser position or lamp status or changing channels [(CHA 1) for instance], not all projectors have their documents describing the exact same text outputs for all uses though (different serial APIs, I guess).
Yet, the thing is, you might have trouble connecting, even then, with the latest versions of VNC clients.
The truth is that all that projectors and working modes are in need of a TPC (or similar).
I wonder what Azabu was talking about in writing that one of the projectors didn’t have the TPC and wanted to connect via web user interface.
Could it be that the projector is one of the kind of the ZX or M (or H?) models that doesn’t have an actual TPC, but a Control Display Panel (CDP) and feature a web interface?

You can send the ASCII commands with any terminal program including net terminal but putty will work as well. Make sure you set it to port 5000.
While I did not state so I agree that without a TPC the projector is not much use. Christie sells a retrofit kit so one can use a currently available TPCs. Series 1 TPC software 2.9D is compatible with the newer hardware.
While all of the 2.9 versions of the software contains the VNC server app, if one is running an older version you will need to FTP the app into the TPC. One can get it from Christie tech support though I suspect they will recommend one brings the TPC to the most current software.

I'll say that 2.9c has been rock solid for me on the series 1 (CP2000) projectors we still have in our service area. The VNC does work as advertised. And yes, with each reboot of the TPC, you have to restart the VNC "app" with a (VNC1) to port 5000 via telnet (pick your favorite program to do that).
