The new 4K DMDs are 1.38" (advertised by OEMs as 1.4"), whereas the "big" 2K chips were 1.25". However, the same lenses are used.
Am I correct in assuming that this increase of approximately 12% in chip diagonal causes the same amount of variation in throw ratio? For example, that a 1.8-3.0 zoom lens effectively becomes a 1.6-2.6?

Yes...more or less.
Note, there are supposed to be 4K lenses coming out (higher MTF to better resolve the 4K pixels).
