Are the DVI input on a Christie digital projector meant to be used to play non-cinema things on the projector?
Are you able to hook a laptop up to it and play something.
If so, can you play anything you can send to the DP or does it have to be in a certain file format.

You can connect any DVI outputs to the Christie and I do believe the 2220 is HDCP compatible.
If you connect your laptop/computer via DVI, your projector will act as a monitor, there is no special "format" required, it will display what you play.
You will need to set the proper resolution though.

All series 2 DVI inputs are HDCP compliant. The projector will not scale DVI sources with a refresh rate greater than 48Hz. So what you feed is what you get...if you have a 1024x768 output on your puter...that is all of the pixels that will be lit up.

If you check the manual on the projector, it normally lists which DVI rates are supported (same with HDSDI, if you are using them for non-DCinema).

If you hook up a Blu-Ray with its output set to 1080...then you normally get a pretty-low-cost set up...but again, it won't scale so if it is a Scope movie...it will be 1920x804 with black boarders unless you zoom your lens out.

It can if the BluRay in question was encoded with that AND your player is set up to playback in 24fps.

Thanks for mentioning the 48Hz limitation, I didn't know about it.
