I'm referring to the "one-night-only" special screening of this classic movie from 1961, which is being done tonight (Nov. 9). It's mostly a hype session, promoted by Fathom Events and TCM, to promote the imminent release of the new Blu-ray disc.

Question: what is the image format, on screen? They posted a disclaimer notice in the publicity saying that it would be "letterboxed", with black bars at the top and bottom of the image. So, I was wondering if the image size is contained in your basic "flat" image size, or if it was somehow set up to project on your larger "'Scope" screen -- albeit still with the black bars.

And also, any comments on the audio quality you heard (if you had a chance to listen at all)?

Was it distributed by satellite, or hard drive, to your location?

if it's what the bluray looks and sounds like - be prepared to be annoyed. The opening fade out - fade in flaw in the beginning and not using the restored 6 track soundtrack - argh!! [Mad]

It shouldn't be letterboxed unless they're using the Blu-Ray master (ie 2.20:1 inside 1920x1080)

A properly configured DCP would have the image at full imager width (2048 or 4096) and then slightly taller than 'scope. Then just set up slightly different lens and screen files and you're set.

It was played from a DVR recording not a DCP cinema server.
