Hello everybody:
One question for experienced people:
What is more light efficient, digital or 35mm projectors?
(same xenon lamp power)
We are going to install our refurbished DP3000 only for 2D.
Our 35mm projector have a 3000w HS-OFR xenon lamp (metallic parabolic mirror and a "fan" type shutter flash 2 times each frame. It's a OSSA VIC and Wassman lamphouse).
We have to choose the appropiated xenon lamp. This BARCO DP3000 accepts from 3000 to 6500w and we are thinking on the 3000w lamp to have similar light on the screen (11 meters wide scope ratio screen and 24m throw).
Do you think it's enought?
We must think on the lamp life...

The newer series II are much brighter than the older series I - but you should still be okay with a 3kW bulb on that screen in 2D.

Bulbs made for digital have a shorter gap for better light efficency and works better with the glass reflector.

If I remember, some BARCO's have to use digital cinema bulbs due to the cathode connection-an adapter is threaded on the cathode end since the BARCO uses a lamp module-is special in which using regular cinema bulbs are incompatible,including the 3KwHS bulb.
