This issue was touched upon in this thread.

Based on information I have received, I thought it only affected DCP-2000's with the original Dolphin 1.0 board running firmware version 21.1z or older.

I received complaints over the weekend of a clicking or popping coming from the center channel for The Expendables 2, both 5.1 and 7.1 versions. A thorough check of the audio system revealed no problems. I also didn't suspect the player at first because all trailers and test files play fine. So I assumed it was a content issue, but it only happens in the auditorium with a Doremi player.

Even though this is a DCP-2K4 with a Dolphin 1.2 board and was running firmware 21.2G, I reported the issue to Doremi. They recommended upgrading to firmware 21.3r and Security Manager 2.0.14. This apparently fixed the issue as the problem has not occurred since upgraded.

I put this up here so others can benefit from this.

There are two different issues, and one is for Dolphin 1.0, as described in Doremi TB 79.

As we are approaching DCI/SMPTE DCP usage now, I would reccommend checking all necessary updates for all Doremis thoroughly. The new Doremitechno support portal has a nice table with a good overview over which boards require which FW/SM/SMS and how to apply them in the right order. And pay special attention if you have a series I projector attached to the Doremi.

Thanks. I've seen something similar: a dolphin 1.2 with clicks and distortion. It was not at the very latest firmware, but the changelog did not mention anything about watermarking problems. We upgraded anyway and the issue disappeared. That was Prometheus.

The new doremi support and log analyser is awesome.

How can I tell if a series 1 projector is DCASM compatible? And what is DCASM? [Smile]

DC ASM is TLS (Transport Layer Security), isn't it? As far as the TI board supports TLS cinelink, any doremi firmware and SM will be happy.
I understand that a Gore board supports TLS. Any specific way to verify the TLS capability (logs...)?

So far, I've found most Series 1s handle Cinelink TLS...anything with an FFIB board (generation wise) will handle Cinelink 2 TLS.

I would proceed with caution on any series 1 that is old enough to have EFIB boards and type 1 TI boards (type 5 being current though one can have the security enclosure on an earlier board...Christie's plan allowed one to merely get an equivalent type board but with the glue-cable enclosure).

My guess is that early Christie CP2000S, early Barco DP90/100s, and early NEC series 1s (with the blue case or the NC800C/IS8) should be TESTED for TLS before actually committing to a DCI complaint software (which MUST use TLS).
