I did not know where else to put it and since feature info is probably not the place I thought I should post it here.

We have a strange problem with the animation movie Niko 2. We have created a show with the movie Niko 2 and before the main feature we have a Black 3D pattern and set the fader to 5.3. This is something we do to all our movies.

However, when we do this in a show with this movie we get a lot of static noise, like pink noise, bits of pieces of the normal sound but mostly just the static.
When we play the show without a black before the main feature there is no problem. Also when we just play the movie without a complete show there is no problem.

We also tested naturally other movies but they had no problems with it.

After deleting the movie and reuploading it on the server locally the problem was still there.
Anyone else having this problem or know perhaps a solution? I called some colleagues and one did not have this problem and one did have the same problem. So I know the problem is not unique to our location. Also changing booths did not help, still the same problem.

Server and firmware, audio processor?

I remember something with audio noise after black, but it's faint...

What server? I've heard of this using 3D black on Doremi servers, with current software (since 2.0.10-0 I think) you don't have to use 3D black, just plain black is fine and doesn't cause the noise.

Yep, now I remember, Doremi TechBulletin 45, Audio Issue during 3D Playback:

'On DCP-2000 units fitted with software version 0.5.2-22 or 0.5.2-22SP1, creating a Show Playlist where the “Black 3D” pattern is followed by a 3D encrypted full container (2048 x 1080) material will add noise in audio during playback of the 3D encrypted full container material.'

0.5.2.xx is prehistoric, though. Yet I would still try the fix.

The server is a Doremi Showvault that is running on the latest release, I believe 2.2.5 from the top of my head. I will try tomorrow the normal Black suggestion since I fear that tonight I won't have time to test it out but thanks for the advice.

We never had this problem before so we were thinking it might be the dcp but if this works it will be great.

There have been some issues with the watermarking creating noise, but to my knowledge, never for IMB systems, and also not just in sequence of a 3D black.

I heard from colleagues today that when the black is followed by non-encrypted content (could be by accident) it just plays correctly. Tomorrow morning I guess I will have some testing to do to see if that really fixes the problem.

Will post the result of course here since it might help other people too.

We never had this problem before with other movies though. This was the first time.

Well i can confirm that switching the 3D black with a 2D black solves the problem.

Also if you have the 3D black followed by unencrypted content also solves the problem.
It is playing correctly now. Thanks for the advice.
