Curious if any of the new IMBs ( Link input ) would be compatible with HDBaseT for non HDCP alternative content. HDBaseT is replacing HDMI on the consumer side combining both audio and video up to 4k @ 24fps or 1080p @ 60fps over a single cat5.

I haven't seen one yet, but I guess you could use a simple HDBase-T adapter/extender to go from HDBase-T back to HDMI.

Sure, but that would indeed require a HDBase-T compliant connector on an IMB and I haven't seen one yet.

I guess HDBase-T is still too new and it will take some time before this will get added to professional equipment. HDMI is a proven format, not without its own set of issues, but it works most of the times.

It seems this will never make it into signal sources or sinks directly, but will stay a conversion-to/from-only thing.

I mean, there is HD-SDI in various forms, and HDMI/DVI/DP - it's hard for a new interface to get a share when it offers only few very specific benefits.

Maybe if it proves itself, it might one day not too far in the future. I can see the benefit of it, although also many new compatibility pitfalls.

But running the equivalent of HDMI trough a normal Cat5e/Cat6 cable at an affordable price, allows for many interesting applications.

With most of the new IMBs ( Dolby in this case ) only the Link is activated that leaves no way to get consumer 3D into the projector. Without HDSDI you can no longer use the Doremi 3d Dimension. The only option would be to use a duel DVI 3D processor which I am not aware of any. What is the Link standard, anyway to convert HDSDI to a compatible Link connection?

I'm not aware of all implementations, but at least some IMBs have HD-SDI connections as well (no Cinelink on those, though). The Dolby has HDMI and HD-SDI, but these are not operational for now. But sure will be through a firmware upgrade.

Some, like Doremi and Sony, also offer consumer 3D input through HDMI (+ HDMI audio passthrough on the Doremi).

So far, no quick switching between standard Inputs and IMB is possible due to remarriage issues. So an IMB with some added I/O options is advisable for screens with a need for alternative content.

GDC also has non-implemented yet HDMI and HDSDI inputs (referring to the HFR IMB).
