If you have the proper equipment try going to sites where you can download HD trailers and convert them to DCP yourself.

Im surprised there is no internet download service for the weekly trailmix. I would think it would save the distributors on workload and money.

Because a trailer is in HD it does not mean that it will look like a proper DCP! HD trailers on the net are good for your PC monitor, not for a cinema screen.

I too am astounded that this does not exist. Coming from a computer background and only recently being involved in digital cinema I get the impression that the film industry has been very slow to embrace all things digital.

It seems only obvious to provide all trailers in DCP format in an easily accessible location.

perhaps their concern is download speeds, especially in more remote areas.

I doubt THAT'S the case...they don't give a hoot about remote areas, unless you owe them money.

I'm sure this will happen someday -- they're already distributing movies to some locations by satellite anyway so it's just a quick jump. Maybe they're hoping everyone will convert to satellite and they won't have to invest in an internet distribution path? Just spit-balling here.

This kind of all-or-nothing attitude is fine in theory. But, for those of us living/working in the real (reel?) world -- where something is better than nothing -- the internet is often the only source for trailers for non-Hollywood titles.

Download the trailers and use DVD-O-MATIC to make them into DCP's.

There are some sites out there ripping unencrypted DCinema trailers for home use as well.

I've also found a couple places dedicated to ripping .m2ts trailers from Blu-ray and creating quite the nice repository for trailers. Very nice as I like running trailers at home prior to screenings. It just makes it feel that much more cinematic.

Don't worry, I don't do it with roadshow films.
