Having problems with my CRU hard drive as I'm ingesting Fast & Furious 6. It gets to 90% then gives me a "picture asset error".

I'm trying to ingest the 5.1 sound version. Would ingesting the 7.1 sound version yield the same results? If it did work, would I be able to play it? I've got active keys for both versions.

I'm running GDC SX2000R servers and USL JSD-60 sound processors.

It would be good enough for a drive-in mix down. I highly doubt anyone would be able to tell.

You could also go into your JSD-60 and map the extra 2 surround channels to the existing 2 surround channels if you were really that worried about it.

It could work, but I assume it would give you the same picture asset error, as it is referencing the same video file for the 7.1 version. Still, give it a try.

On the distribution drive you presumably have a 5.1 "OV" DCP that is the entire movie: sound and picture. There's also a 7.1 "VF" DCP - this only ingests the 7.1 sound track but uses the image files from the 5.1 original version OV DCP. To get the 7.1 movie fully ingested - with Doremi at least - the OV and VF DCPs both must be ingested (same with OCAP or any other VF DCPs). Since you are getting a "picture asset error" I expect you're out of luck, and you should concentrate on getting a replacement drive.

Ended up borrowing a replacement drive from the local 10-plex and ingested their copy with no problem. Strange that we ended up with two failed / corrupted drives in the same week. Our "Internship" drive wouldn't read at all, and Fast 6 was corrupted or something.

I had 3 broken drives in a row last week.

First one just went Click...Click...Click....

Second had not content on it

third just would not ingest, got to 80% every time.

It happens

Our Internship drive also would not ingest. Good thing it arrived Tuesday, as the replacement drive arrived in time to ingest before regular engagements.
