Looking into the rear vent which the air blows out on the NEC nc800c I can see what looks like a metal filter inside there screwed on, it looks like we'd have to take the side of the projector off just to get to this filter, are we likely to encounter any problems taking the side of the projector off?

I was worried the projector might not like it for security reasons but all went fine, side off, filter out to clean and back together.

no air filter maintenance will trigger a tamper event on any DCI certified projector, as far as I know.
