I have been playing around trying to refine our special presentations a little.

Most trailers, regardless of their format we play in flat due to the P&D advertising requirements that state we must play their "goldspot" after the trailers, and their goldspot is itself flat.

Most of the trailers we get (99%) are letterboxed when we play them in flat and appear to be a scope ratio. So, for special screening events where we don't need to play the P&D adds I wanted to play them in the proper scope format. The only thing is, they aren't scope! There is a small black border all around them. Maybe 10 pixels on top and bottom and about 20 either side.

What gives? when we play a scope DCP on the same macro it fills the screen and masking correctly. How do you play them?

You forget flat does not fill the entire width of the container, but scope does. You are merely seeing flat letterboxed trailers run in scope. It won't quite fill the width because apparently your installers didn't just mask things off and did a good job. Because it doesn't fill the width, the 2.4 letterboxed image won't fill the height either.

Your only solution is to actually play scope trailers.

I have never seen more than 1 proper scope trailer delivered to us. Perhaps I will just abandon the idea.

Yes they do but we can't use it for various reasons. We have to play an older one that is only in flat. Their instructions not my choice [Frown]

Because we don't participate in EE wedensdays and hence showing the new ones constitutes false advertising on our part
