We received our content for Gravity today and I realized they have a white and silver version of the 3D content. This is the first time I've seen this.

Very interesting. I kinda have to wonder what the primary difference is. Warner Brothers has historically done 3.5fL & 7fL versions, so maybe this is just a drop-in replacement for that? (silver = 3.5 & white = 7?)

More importantly, my theater is running a 3D show in a house with a silver screen and active shutter 3D (we converted from Real-D to XpanD earlier this year). Which version do they intend for me to use there? [Confused]

John: I suppose that you should use the silver screen version simply because your screen is silver. Nothing to do with your 3D system of choice.

Real-D intorduced a new White Screen 3-D system about 5 months ago. It uses a special MDI wide view 1.5 gain sreen and the adaptor looks more or less like the regular XL unit. It hasn't been widely adopted as of yet most likely due to the fact that the screen is ludricously priced. Also, who's puttin in 3-D these days except in new builds? The majority of the 3-D stuff has been in for some time. Hopefully Harkness will introduce a competing version and cause a little competition on price. So at any rate I'm guessing that's what the silver vs white version is for.
