Hello there my friends...
I have a CP-2000ZX christie projector and when i turned it on today i had an error (attached picture) according to the manual i'm supposed to restart the device and hope for the best. no luck. any idea what/who should i do/pray to ? [Razz]

If you have a UPS in your system, the 220V power to the UPS may be disconnected (breaker off) and that will give you this error.

There is a communication cable plugged into the ballast, but I can't imagine it has come out since it is screwed in (DB9)...the other end is in the light-engine compartment and may have issues.

Alternately, you may have had a ballast failure, in which case, you'll be buying a new one since the ZX is no longer in warranty.

i've seen a manual on how to remove the ballast and saw the cable you are talking about, indeed seems unlikely. thanks for the info! i shall check it out, and re-post.

I would go for a change of the pcm board. It is likely to fail communicating with the ballast.

after playing with all the cables i found that a cable connecting the two ballast serials was fried, replaced it.. life's awesome again.

what fried a serial cable? presumably too close to something hotter than it should have been?

Or, there is heavy current flow thru a serial cable for some reason we don't yet know.

If that was the case, more than the cable would have fried.
