Hi, I've got a drive stuck in a Dolby ds200. It comes out about half an inch. It seems like the casing has got damaged and is catching. The whole housing of the server at that end seems sealed with rivets. Is there anyway to open up the drive bay?

One of the screws on the bottom of the drive has loosened up enough that it has dropped down and prevents the drive from being removed. I have had several that were loose enough that the drive wouldn't slide into the slot until I tightened them, so now I check them and tighten them first. There are a surprising number that have loose screws.

The DSS200 essentially is a Supermicro OEM server chassis with a nice Dolby front bezel. Those drive caddies don't have screws on the bottom as far as I remember, but a loose screw on the side can also get your drive stuck in the bay.

What you could try is turn the thing completely off (if you're not sure, it's off, unplug both PSUs) and try to remove the neighboring drives together with the drive that's stuck. If that's not working either, removing the neighboring drives gives you a bit more space to work with.

NOTE: Don't do this while the system is up and running or you're killing your RAID. And obviously, put your drives back in (and in the correct bay) once you power up the thing again.
