WAC lens
This results in more like a 35% difference in light output between flat and scope (i.e. 14FL flat results in 9FL scope using the same power level); but this option displays each format in it's native resolution. Downside is you have to size your lamp for the scope picture and reduce power when running flat.

The Kinoton DCP range, which I'm sure you all know utilises the Barco light engine/Kinoton DCP of course uses the same Communicator software etc as the Barco.

About the only instance I could see any advantage would be in countries where imports for this type of equipment are limited (India for instance) but they may be on very friendly trade relationships with the countries these companies operate in.

I think a key reason you don't see them in the USA is cost.
. In fact it may actually may be detrimental to lens to screen alignment over time. I certainly don't see it as anything that would help in the long run. DLP Projectors don't really have any internal vibration sources excepting the internal fans unless the 6:00 Northbound is flying past the north wall of the Kinema. The rubber isolators used might deterioate with age and then alignment would drift slowly off. Most rubber isolators I have seen used in equipment do deterioate over time!! The better idea might be to isolate large cooling fans, cooling pump, and the rectifier if it's of the iron core type, or what ever might produce vibration inside the unit. The rest of the unit ought to be very solid.

Following up on this topic. Barco just issued 1.11.133. This is supposed to improve lamp strike reliability. I have loaded it and it not only updates the main software, it is the first update in a LONG, LONG time that updates the Lamp Power Supply software. My guess is that they are also ramping it during the whole lamp striking process.
