Hi everyone,
Did anyone know what is the differences between S model and S-A model. Recently i had error code for 52 and 53 tempered event. I had solved this problem before by replacing the interface PWB board on S-A series from another projector. It runs perfectly with no problem. Now i'm facing the same problem on S model. I tried to replacing it using the S-A model but there were some errors occur.

96:MF(B) Test Fail

Detail status:
Fmt-Intf Datapath Signature Test Fail
Fmt (Red)Datapath Signature Test Fail
Fmt (Blue) Datapath Signature Test Fail

Is it the interface board not compatible from different model or there were setting i miss to do.

Please Advice

NEC models with the -A suffix are Asian specific models. Don't get firmware mixed up when running the updates as there are quite a few differences!!

I can't answer if there are physical differences in the actual boards or not as we don't see Asian versions of the projectors here in the States. If there are no differences in board then the errors may have been caused by firmware differences between the two boards. You should contact NEC Tech Support and pose that question to them just to be sure.

The 2500S was originally an EFIB machine. NEC changed the model to 2500S-A when they began shipping with FFIB engines. There is nothing Asian-specific about the -A version to my knowledge. If you have a 2500S that was later given the FFIB upgrade in the field, treat it as a 2500S-A now. The 2500S and 2500S-A *do* have different firmware versions and one must reflash the firmware if trading boards from one model to the other.

I believe most of the 2500S models shipped with Type 3 interface boards while all the 2500S-A machines I service came with Type 5 gore interface boards. It is possible to install the later Type 5 and 6 interface boards in an original 2500S if required for DCI compliance or otherwise.

Jason... I know this to be true of the NEC Series 2 projectors. Seems to me this was brought up in training class. Most manufacturers didn't make any distinction between efib and ffib and many efib projectors have been converted to ffib.

Thanks Mark. The 2500S vs. 2500S-A EFIB vs. FFIB explanation came straight from an employee at NEC. About half of the NEC 2500 series machines I service shipped as 2500S-A models on day one to sites in the USA. Guess NEC changed the meaning of the -A designation when Series 2 came along.

I think the difference in the -A series 2 is the encryption may be different or there may not be any encryption (Enigma) at all.

Hi Guys,

Somehow i managed to installed the interface board from S model to S-A model. It can run without an errors until 1 week all the errors i stated above occur again.
Below is my projector detail:

System : NC2500S-A
Firmware: 2.11
Data : 2.16

Cinema Board
Interface: Series 1CP
Processor : Series-1
FIB : FFIB
Formatter : FPGA Satellite
