I have been looking into alternatives to our current cinema processors and the Datasat AP20 seems very appealing.
However I have heard from one technician that the audio delay of the AP20 causes problems when using it for live events (such as live music). The story goes that a musician located in the auditorium was very disturbed by the processing delay in the audio chain.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
We do many live events in our auditoriums, so we have to take something like this into account when replacing the cinema processors.

Yes, i heard a similar story. The thing with the AP20, is that every setting can be adjusted. And should be.
Audio delay has to be adjusted at the correct value for the surrounds according to the size of the room.

I think you can go for the AP20 if your installer is top notch.

In fact the 'downside' of the AP20 is it's massively configurable. Sometimes you can get lost in all the available settings! That being said, I love it.
But I can understand why a delay issue could happen.

Which loudspeakers is your AP20 set up to use? Remember the mic input can be directed to either the screen speakers or the surrounds!

We do mic announcements regularly through our AP20. I wouldn't say that experience qualifies for a 'music is no problem' statement, but I haven't had any issues with that.

I can do a measurement of the input/output delay if you're interested.

By all means, the AP20 rocks! And it is very stable and clean signal-wise. No hickups on HDMI video/audio switching etc. Always does what it should.
I do a lot of tweaking and reconfiguration on the fly on special events.
It's not too complicated and the graphic touch display helps a lot. As does a complete reading of the manual.
