I have a bulb that won't light. The bulb is under 600 hours and is likely under warranty. Ballantyne-Strong wants the logs in order to confirm the bulb is still under warranty. I've extracted the logs from the Control Panel and have a 9.5 MB file with the extension .tar.bz2.bf-cbc. The operator at Ballantyne-Strong says they can't open it and want me to send it as a .txt file.

How do I do that?

Using DCC go to the "Info tab". Then go to "Save Info" near the bottom right. I recommend you save the last couple months of logs for them by using the Select Range button. Strong will likely complain if you give them too much info to wade through which is understandable. If you don't have DCC let us know.

There have been ALOT of lamp failures (among other things) in these projectors which is very strange considering that Ushio makes the lamps and the ballast that runs the lamps. I've noticed that the replacement lamps are holding up ok though.

A lot of 350W USHIOs from the early run failed in the Sony 515 as well. The 450W are much more stable.

That's good to know Carsten... Thanks... The replacements we've been getting for the failed lamps don't seem to fail and actually the majority of the lamps are running just fine. So I suspect it is a manufacturing or design defect in the lamps themselves. It's not like these lamps are something brand new. They have been used in other industrial projectors over the last few years as well.
