hi all

Sony SRX 515 projector and server

Dolby CP650 installed cat 790

surround output very choppy

How can I solve the problem

maybe youn need to install an oddissey card on the cp650 audio output.
it has special filters that make them work as they have to.

The Sony has both balanced and unbalanced AES outputs on separate connectors. The CAT790 may work better if you use the unbalanced output. So, try to make a separate cable for the corresponding inputs on the CAT790. There is a document describing the weird input port assignment of the CAT790 here:

From your thin description I guess it's the dreaded robosound issue. But with a modified cable, it could potentially even cure that issue, or make it happen less often.
