Assuming you are talking about Series 2 NEC they are way past SP-2 at this point in time. If you are still running SP-2 then you really need to upgrade, but before you can upgrade you will have to run the ICP update program first so it can even go to SP-3. SP-2 firmware would be regarded as some pretty flakey stuff compared to the current firmware.
