After reinstalling a CP2000-S in te projection booth after an Open Air season, the TPC comes up with "A communications error with the system supervisor module has occurred". The self test passes every test except for the SSM which is "not detected".
Changing the SSM board did not resolve the problem. Christie sent us a new Dual DVI Motherboard which is the card at the bottom of the card cage. Is there a special trick to remove the motherboard since it appears to be extremely difficult.

Before you go tearing into the card cage...have you measured the voltages? There is the 3.3V and 5.1V and if either of these are not right, it will show up as an SSM problem. I had an issue that was diagnosed as an SSM failure that turned out to be a SMPS problem...once the SMPS was changed and voltages set...the projector has been issue free since. The problem was an intermittent voltage rail failure that one could never easily catch but all of the sudden, communication via the SSM failed...and would periodically come back. The longer the projector was on, the more stable it became so at the beginning of the day, it was least likely to work.

Also, when you changed the SSM module, did you verify that you had the proper firmware in it for YOUR projector?

Another potential source of an SSM communication failure is the cheap little DLink switch in the pedestal. Note, that switch, the touch panel and the LVPS are all powered separately so it is possible for part of the system to power up and appear normal while others appear to be dead/missing.

After you remove the boards from the card cage...it should just be a matter of removing the 6 or so screws and pulling the motherboard straight up. I have not personally done that one but I have lived through the SSM and LVPS. The LVPS was a pain due to how tight everything is and where you can fit tools in for disconnecting/reconnecting the output power wires. Then adjusting the power rails is annoying since your meter has to be touching SMT parts while adjusting a trimmer.

Not quite so easy. There are 12 Philips screws to loosen and the nut-standoffs of the connectors at the bottom of the projector. After lifting the motherboard it appeared that the comm cable between the MB ant the SSM was reconnected.
After putting it on, this problem was solved. Another has turned up, cf new post.
