Subject pretty much says it all. What is the port number for the ethernet port on a 650?

I'm trying to configure my Christie IMB so that I can control the 650 via ethernet. They're on the same network, but the 650 doesn't respond when I use the test function on the IMB. The only thing I can think is that the default port listed on the IMB for the 650 is wrong.

Also, have you definitely configured the CP650's IP address? Can you ping it with your computer?

I double checked everything, addressing-wise and it was fine. As a final check, I did a telnet to port 61412 on the CP650's address. I got a connection without a problem. When I disconnected, the IMB was able to connect fine. Go figure.

I've got it all working now. No more hand dialing the volume for trailers and feature.

Please note...the CP650's Ethernet support is VERY feeble. It can only handle ONE device at a time...so if something has the port open...then you can't get in. If the IMB is connected up keeps the port open (as some nasty devices do)...then if you try to get in... the CP650 will flip you off (it will actually tell you that someone else is using the port).

Doremi only keeps the port open during a message from what I've seen.
And: how can a CP650 send out a "go away" message if it can't allow a connection? It has to have connected through the port before it can say that it can't connect through the port... bit of a conundrum.

Give it a try and you'll see what I mean. GDC keeps the port open, for instance. In fact, so does the Dolby DSS servers themselves.

Does the CP650 use the same command set as RS232 over Ethernet? That is, will this work?

where the first command sets the level, and the second command reads the level?

Yes...the command set is identical for either type of communication.
