Dear all,
many of you might know "DCP-Inspect", a validation tool for DCPs.
As many users struggle to use a command-line tool, we decided to create a GUI (Graphical User Interface)for DCP-Inspect.
The tool is for free.

Well done, Tammo! However, I guess most people dealing with Linux systems for validation will not have such a big problem compiling it from the sources and using it cmdline-style, especially since Wolfgang has all the steps explained.

What would make things much more easy also for less experienced users would be to have GUI versions for Windows and Macs.
And I think the best way to do this, instead of supplying native Win/Mac versions, would be to supply a VM-Ware image with a GUI version precompiled.

Hey, we just started using the software at my venue and its working out great! The new UI is intuitive and has been a huge help in checking all the different content we get sent in here.

The another mess for us were the EXT2, 3, 4 format on Win/Mac. At this moment, I still having a nightmare with Paragon ExtFS on Mac. But MacFuse were too slow for me.

Actually, does we have better choice reading EXT drive on Mac?

Oops, mistook this for NTFS at first. It's weird that there is no solid ext support for a Unix based OS X. However, I have never found OS X ext performance as bad as you describe. If you use a VM-Ware image in OS X for DCP-inspect, you should be able to use the VM-Ware client OS' native ext support. It should be possible to mount an external drive natively in the VM-Ware Linux.

It depends, I don't recommend use third party enabler to read / write ext drive though OSX, sometimes they will corrupt the file system and makes the OS X can't read some DCP HDD again (I guess about the inode size problem).

VM-ware maybe is alternative way to fix this problem. I used Parallel with ubuntu, but I don't know why, I got slower speed to read some USB 3 HDD. Sometimes even can't read too. Finally, I need to use USB 2 cable will read properly.
