Hi Guys

I am having a bit of a problem in one of my screens in that it will only hold its lens settings for a week at the most.I have received a new cinema controller board from kinoton to install but i cannot connect to it to complete the marrige to the dallas key.any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.

The Cinema Controller contains the dallas key information. Two things you could do.

1) Make a clone of the existing Cinema Controller and then upload that to the new one. I believe the Dallas Key information will also transfer to that one. The potential downside is that you might be transferring the problem with it!

2) Either read the dallas key serial number off of your key and enter it or use your Dallas Key (let it fail) and then scroll down to the bottom of the logs in Communicator and see what key was just used. It will have your Dallas Key number. You then need to manually put in your Dallas key and the desired combination. You will need "service" rights to be able to enter the Dallas key number (Installation>Advanced>Manage Security Keys).

Also I would advise running the Barco firmware updater to make sure the new CCB matches the rest of the projector in firmware terms.

If I rebember correct the IP-adresses are also stored on the Cinema controller board.

The default Barco IP address is 192.168.100.2. And yes, the Cinema Controller has that too.

Naturally, one should install, at least, the same firmware as the system that is coming out. Note, the Cinema Controller does have all of your macro/presets too. So if you start from scratch, you'll have a bit of work on your hands. Though now, with Communicator, you can do a file specific clone or you can manually transfer files with Communicator. Either way, I'd make a Cinema Controller (Extended) clone of the old one so you have all of the potential files. They are zipped but can be unzipped and then transferred as needed.

Hey Guys

Got it sorted eventually.I could'nt connect via the communicator because for some reason instead of the default barco ip address the board was set for 192.168.4.133.Ran angry ip scanner & eventually got it.I had already made a clone file of all the macros without the flat or scope lens file so once i put the files back onto them & remade all new lens files so far so good. [Smile]

You should also be able to connect serial and get what the IP address is. If you ever have to go into an unfamiliar booth you can always find it that way.

So the projector was in theatre #4 on a Dolby DSS system. Dolby uses that IP scheme. 192.168.screen #.133 is the projector IP.

Barco / Kinoton / DcineX do NOT reset their CCB boards before shipping out. I'm not even sure if they test them. I have had 3 replaced on our 12c, each one received from dcinex/barco with entirely different IP / Dallas / NTP etc settings from the last.

The only one that resolved our problems was one that appeared to actually be brand new (1 month old mfg date on the sticker, sealed antistatic bag) with the default barco settings and the latest firmware already installed.

Was a real PITA going through 3 boards (im including the original one) all with new and unique issues that were only resolved on the 3rd barco replacement board.

My favourite issue, by far, was the random will-it, wont-it cue firing issue that came with board #2
